A chassis split refers to a situation where the container and the chassis are not in the same location. This can lead to additional costs in the shipping process.
A chassis split occurs when there are no chassis available at an ocean port. The trucker then has to travel to a nearby chassis pool to pick up the chassis before proceeding to the port.
To compensate for the extra effort and cost involved in a chassis split, the trucking operator may charge a chassis split fee.
If applicable, the chassis split fee will appear as a destination charge on your next Beeontrade invoice.
