What is the drop-and-pick trucking option for high-volume FCL deliveries?

For high-volume FCL deliveries, a drop-and-pick (sometimes referred to as a drop-and-hook) trucking option is available.

How does a drop-and-pick delivery work in trucking?

A drop occurs when a truck driver leaves the warehouse after dropping down the container, without staying to watch it be unloaded (as in a live unload). The driver returns to pick up the empty container once the container has been loaded, usually within 48 hours.

What distinguishes drop and pick from other trucking options?

Drop and pick involves a truck driver putting off a container at a warehouse and then picking up another empty container before departing. It's less expensive than a drop or even live unloading, but practical only if there are regular container deliveries.
